A Different Kind of Network

Connect @ EconSM is a little different from most of the other social nets some of you frequent -- or have started. It's a closed conference network, which means only participants in EconSM can be members. Also, participants can opt out of the appointments process.

We hope you'll raise issues you'd like to see addressed during the various conference sessions and questions you'd like answered there, but you don't have to wait until we're all together in person. We also hope you'll share feedback about the network produced by our friends at Broadband Mechanics. It's our first full-featured social net and so very much a work in progress.

We may decide in the future to have a ContentNext Media network. In that event, you'll be invited to join.

The specifics

Home: This literally is home base for the conference. You'll see announcements here, community blog posts, modules about members and groups, even your appointments.

My Page: This comes in two flavors: Private, where you create and edit your profile, upload media and manage your appointments. You can customize the network's look. Public: a version where people can see what you choose to share.

Participants: This is where you'll find the conference directory. You'll be able to see who is attending; search by name, title and company; and, if the participant chooses, make appointments.

Groups: This is where you'll find discussion groups about each session and where you start your own conversations or join others already in progress.

Schedule: The schedule for EconSM and surrounding events.

Speakers: Roster and bios for the people setting the stage for our conference conversations.

Venues: Details about and directions to the Beverly Hilton and the venue for our pre-conference mixer.
